How much does self storage cost?

Prices depend on unit size and location. A 10 sq ft locker starts at £14 a week at our South East stores and around £21 a week in London; a 100 sq ft room for a full house move runs from £53 to £81 a week. Every price is per week with no deposit, and new customers get 50% off their first 8 weeks. Get an exact price with a free online quote — it takes under a minute.

What size unit do I need?

As a rule of thumb: a 25 sq ft unit fits the contents of a small van, 50 sq ft takes a one-bed flat, and 100 sq ft handles a two-bed house including white goods. Our interactive size guide narrows it down from what you're actually storing, and if you get it wrong you can switch sizes at any time — you only ever pay for the space you're in.

Is there a minimum stay or a deposit?

The minimum stay is one week and there's no deposit. Storage runs week to week; when you're done, give us seven days' notice and your last invoice is adjusted to the day you move out.

When can I access my unit?

Most stores are open every day 6am–10pm with your personal PIN code, and several — including Borehamwood, Woking, Crawley, Kingston and Croydon — offer 24/7 access as standard. Access hours are listed on each store's page.

How secure are Boxroom stores?

Every store has PIN-code entry, CCTV running around the clock, and individually alarmed units. Only you hold the key to your padlock — staff can't open your unit. Stores are also protected by fire and smoke detection throughout.

What can't I store?

No food or perishables, plants, animals, flammables (fuel, gas bottles, paint thinners), fireworks or explosives, illegal goods, or anything living or leaking. Cash, jewellery and irreplaceable items are best kept at home. If in doubt, ask the store team.

Do I need insurance?

Your goods must be insured while in storage. Many home contents policies extend to self storage — check yours. If not, we can arrange cover from £1 a week when you book, or you can bring your own policy certificate.

Can I run a business from my unit?

You can use your unit as a stockroom, archive or equipment store, and many of our stores accept deliveries on your behalf and offer business mailboxes. Units can't be used as workshops or staffed workplaces — but for storage-led businesses, weekly terms mean your space can grow and shrink with your stock.

Do you sell boxes and packing materials?

Yes — most stores have a packing shop with boxes in three sizes, tape, bubble wrap, mattress covers and padlocks. Order with your quote and it'll be waiting at reception when you move in.

Can I move in the same day I get a quote?

Usually, yes. Reserve free online, bring photo ID, and if your unit size is available you can be loaded in the same afternoon. Reservations hold your price for 28 days with nothing to pay until you move in.
